Providers Spotlight

Bio:

I was an applications instructor until I discovered massage. I was a bridesmaid at a wedding in Santorini. Everyone was raving about a massage therapist located across from our hotel. I had to see what all the hoopla was about. It was my first massage and one of the most amazing experiences I ever had. As I walked across the beach, back to my hotel, I decided that I had to share this with others. A few months later, I enrolled in a school.

I had wanted to be a massage therapist since the early 90’s but went to college and then worked in the travel industry. Bio:

I became interested in massage therapy after being in an auto accident ten years ago, that resulted in lumbar and knee injuries. I received massage as part of my recovery treatments. Once I realized how beneficial massage was for recovery and stress reduction, I decided to go to school at night, then retire from my career as a professional chef and pursue massage therapy as my new calling.

Over the last eight years I have grown enjoy educating my clients about the mechanics of their bodies and how ergonomics and stress affect them. I strive to help everyone understand that massage is for maintenance and not a special occasion.

Bio:

At an early age I discovered that my purpose in life was to help people. I began working with at-risk youth as a counselor and outdoor leader. I went to college for psychology, but eventually realized that wasn’t the path that I wanted to continue. My friends and I often gave each other shoulder rubs, and they would comment on my natural ability to massage. Then when a friend told me that she would pay me (hypothetically) to give her a massage, it dawned on me that I could make a career out of it.

I began working in a day spa and then joined with a friend from massage school to open a massage practice. I’ve developed a style that blends relaxation and treatment to leave my clients feeling balanced. My goal working with clients is to increase their awareness of their bodies, and to educate them about the importance of self-care practices.

Qualifications & Training:

Licensed Massage Practitioner, graduated from Brenneke School of Massage in 2000. I am trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Prenatal, Reflexology, Hot Stone, and Reiki.

Why I love massage:

It brings me joy when a client thanks me for relieving their pain, and knowing that I’ve helped make a difference in their life.

Bio:

I credit my becoming a massage therapist to my dad, a Dallas Police officer of 40 years. When I was young we would sit on the couch watching TV while “trading feet”. After he worked all night I would walk on his back and work on his feet so he could sleep. Massage always came so naturally and the feeling of satisfaction I felt, even as a child, in being able to relieve his stress and pain simply through massage and caring touch has always stayed with me. I tried enrolling in Austin only to be told I was too young at the time, causing me to forget about massage for a while. I moved around a lot working various retail jobs searching for what I was supposed to be doing with my life, knowing it wasn’t where I currently was. One night several years later I met a friend that had just graduated from massage school and in conversing with her I remembered what I was meant to do! I saved some money and enrolled two months later, it was the best decision I could’ve made. I truly enjoy being a MT and love being able to spend my time and energy on the things that are important to me.

Bio:

I especially enjoy working with athletes and people who are addressing postural issues and/or recovering from injuries. I believe that massage is an integral component of true self-care and I hope to someday convince the whole world of this fact! In the meantime, I teach workshops for couples and pairs of friends who are interested in cultivating their own inner-massage therapist. My ideal clients are as interested in pursuing their own best-health as I am in helping them attain it.
